Jupiter Bach designs and manufactures vacuum-infused composites for both off- and onshore wind turbines. They have seven production sites around the world, producing nacelle and spinner covers as well as other components.

The company sought to improve and support the production of its parts by using a PLC-controlled system, looking to Magnum Venus Products (MVP) for a solution. It initially purchased two Patriot Innovator RTM Systems in 2019 for its composites center in China, working with MVP’s Chinese distributor, Sino Composites.

These machines enable the injecting of polyester, vinylester and methacrylate resins and catalyst at controlled pressures. The injection head completes on-demand material mixing, while the catalyst ratio is adjustable from 0.75% to 2.5%. An intuitive control panel makes for easy operation and accurate mix ratios for every part, every time.

With this equipment in place, Jupiter Bach’s production is more efficient. They fixed the equipment onto a special trolley and integrated the material cylinder heating and mixing system. The transport and injection of all materials occurs through containers and equipment from the barrel to the finished product, without any air exposure.

As a result of this workflow, Jupiter Bach reported improved product stability and material loss. In addition, staff now have a much cleaner workspace and have easily adapted to this new operational upgrade.

“MVP’s is truly a global company. We are uniquely positioned to serve our customers internationally through our highly trained and trustworthy distributors, many of which we have worked with for decades and consider part of our MVP family,” said Joan Tracy, Director of International Sales at MVP. “Our engineers at MVP work in tandem with our distributors to build a tailored solution for our customer’s specific production needs.”

One unique aspect of the collaboration between Jupiter Bach and MVP was the strong partnership, which included enhancing controls and making them standard. The change involved timed pause and pressure adjustments during the injection cycle. Through video conferencing, Jupiter Bach’s technical team and MVP’s engineers were able to program the enhanced functionality on the existing units they purchased.

MVP included this new upgrade to the two more units just purchased, and the feature is now part of its controls.
