Last week, Magnum Venus Products (MVP) hosted an exclusive closed mold training event at Reckless Industries. The event, designed for hands-on, in-depth process training, provided manufacturers across the United States with valuable techniques to enhance their production efficiency and product quality.

Over the course of two and a half days, participants engaged in a comprehensive instruction of new closed mold technologies. The intentionally small group size ensured that each attendee received personalized guidance and ample opportunity for hands-on practice. The training covered several key processes:

  • Flex Molding Process: Attendees had the opportunity to build reusable silicone bags with integrated injection and vacuum channels. They learned how to set up these bags for direct injection, bypassing the old-school bucket method for enhanced quality. Additionally, the session included techniques for calibrating molds to incorporate collapsible resin channels, optimizing efficiency and precision.
  • SVB Seal Integration: The SVB Seal integration session focused on reducing the consumption of costly consumables like tacky tape while also reducing air leakage and enhancing overall process reliability. This innovative approach streamlines production and lowers material costs, offering significant advantages to manufacturers.
  • Fast Flow LRTM: Participants explored the Fast Flow LRTM process, learning how to inject heavy-filled material while reducing injection time by over 75%.

Led by Industry Expert Charles Tur

The training was led by our renowned closed mold expert, Charles Tur. With over two decades in the composites industry, Charles Tur is a distinguished authority in Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) and Infusion technology. Charles provides consultation, planning, installation, training, and problem-solving directly at customer facilities around the world. His expertise and dedication make him a pivotal figure in advancing composite technology globally.

Charles’s vast knowledge and engaging teaching style were evident throughout the training. As Charles Wilhite, one of the past attendees, remarked, “I learned more in three days than I did in my independent research because of your team of experts. I was able to approach everyone and ask all the questions I wanted, and they gave lots of information freely.”

The Venue: Reckless Industries

Hosting the event at Reckless Industries added substantial value. Reckless, known for its tooling excellence and precision, provided a cutting-edge facility with state-of-the-art machining capabilities including many MVP equipment integrations. The collaboration between MVP and Reckless Industries underscored the importance of industry partnerships in driving technological advancements and sharing knowledge.

Key Takeaways for Attendees

Participants left the training with a deep understanding of the latest closed mold technologies and practical skills to implement in their production processes. The hands-on experience equipped them with effective techniques to produce higher quality products at lower costs. An attendee noted, “The MVP equipment has been a big eye opener. We’re not spraying a thin, water-like substance; we’re spraying high viscosity materials, and it’s almost spraying like paint with the MVP equipment. It really opened our eyes to how many different solutions MVP offers.
