“MVP joins world-class team of manufacturers, material suppliers, academia, and government to focus on lowering the overall manufacturing costs of advanced composites by 50%”

June 10, 2015, Knoxville, Tennessee – Magnum Venus Products (MVP), the premier manufacturer of composite application equipment announced that it has partnered with the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) to be part of a world-class team of organizations from leading industrial manufacturers, material suppliers, software developers, government and academia to research and develop innovations that focus on lowering overall manufacturing costs of advanced composites by 50 percent, reducing the energy used to make composites by 75 percent, and increasing the ability to recycle composites by more than 95 percent within the next decade.

MVP has committed to donating financial, manufacturing, equipment, and human resources to support IACMI’s mission to reduce technical risk and develop a robust supply chain for advanced composite materials in automotive applications, among others such as wind turbines and compressed gas storage. MVP’s Multi-Axis Winder is one product being used to compliment the centers development of rapid tooling manufacturing for closed mold applications. Advanced fiber-reinforced polymer composites, which combine strong fibers with tough plastics, are lighter and stronger than steel, and could help manufacturers deliver more advanced and affordable products.

“We are proud and honored to be part of this innovative and dynamic consortium, that will pioneer new advances in composite technology that has the ability to literally change the world,” said MVP President Peter Hedger.
