Slave Pumps

Caution: Always wear proper safety equipment (glasses, gloves, respirator, etc.) when working on spray equipment.

  • Problem Catalyst spitting from gun. Intermittent catalyst flow.
    • Possible Causes: Air is drawn into catalyst siphon assembly.
      Solution: Replace inlet nipple.
    • Possible Causes: Cracked or deteriorated (pin holes) inlet nipple at bottom of slave
      pump.
      Solution: Replace inlet nipple.
    • Possible Causes: Worn or cut o-ring in inlet nipple.
Solution: Replace o-ring in inlet nipple.
    • Possible Causes: Improper seal around siphon hose.
Solution: Check seal and be sure hose is inserted all the way into nipple.
    • Possible Causes: Cracked or deteriorated (pin holes) catalyst siphon hose.
      Solution: Replace catalyst siphon hose.
    • Possible Causes: Cracked or deteriorated elbow assembly on catalyst jug
      assembly.
      Solution: Replace elbow assembly.
    • Possible Causes: Air trapped in system.
      Solution: Reprime line by hand.
  • Problem No catalyst coming from gun.
    • Possible Causes: Ball valve open on catalyst manifold (if applicable).
Solution: Be sure ball valve is fully closed.
  • Problem No catalyst flow on down stroke of catalyst pump.
    • Possible Causes: Debris in lower ball and seat assembly.
      Solution: Remove and clean.
    • Possible Causes: Chipped or worn ball and/or seat.
Solution: Inspect and replace ball and/or seat if necessary.
  • Problem No catalyst flow on upstroke of catalyst pump.
    • Possible Causes: Debris in ball seat assembly located at bottom of pump shaft
(commonly referred to as upper bal seat assembly).
      Solution: Remove and clean.
    • Possible Causes: Chipped or worn ball and/or seat assembly.
Solution: Inspect and replace ball and/or seat if necessary.
  • Problem Loss of catalyst pressure.
    • Possible Causes: Worn or cut o-ring on ball seat assembly located on bottom of
pump shaft (commonly referred to as upper ball seat assembly).
      Solution: Replace o-ring.
    • Possible Causes: Sticking catalyst pressure relief valve assembly, located on
      catalyst manifold (if applicable).
      Solution: Disassemble, inspect and clean.
      Replace seals if necessary.
  • Problem Catalyst leaking from top of catalyst slave pump.
    • Possible Causes: Worn or cut o-rings located in top of pump.
      Solution: Replace o-rings.
    • Possible Causes: Upper packings need to be adjusted (if applicable).
Solution: Adjust packing nut 1/8 to 1/4 turn, with pump depressurized.
    • Possible Causes: Bent catalyst pump shaft.
      Solution: Replace pump shaft.
