Fluid Sections
Caution: Always wear proper safety equipment (glasses, gloves, respirator, etc.) when working on spray equipment.
-
Problem Fast Down-stroke (Winking of Pattern).
-
Possible Causes: Debris on upper ball seat.Solution: Disassemble and clean.
-
-
Problem Fast Up-stroke (Winking of Pattern).
-
Possible Causes: Debris on upper ball seat.Solution: Disassemble and clean.
-
-
Problem Partial dive on down-stroke.
-
Possible Causes: Air siphoning.Solution: Check for loose fittings from bottom of pump to the end of the
siphon assembly. Inspect for kinks, cuts, loose fittings, etc. and
correct as necessary.
-
-
Problem Pump stroke "Chatter".
-
Possible Causes: Plugged material filter.Solution: Disassemble and clean filter.
-
Possible Causes: Build up of material around pump upper packing/seals.Solution: Disassemble and replace packing/seals.
-
-
Problem Material leakage into solvent cup.
-
Possible Causes: Loose packings (some applications).Solution: Clean solvent cup and tighten as applicable 1/2 turn at a time.
Note: Pressure must be off of pump before adjusting. -
Possible Causes: Worn packings.Solution: Disassemble and replace upper packings.
-
Possible Causes: Worn shaft.Solution: Disassemble and replace shaft.
-
-
Problem Decrease in volume of resin delivery.
-
Possible Causes: Clogged material filter.Solution: Disassemble and clean.
-
Possible Causes: Worn cylinder. Fluid is bypassing the packings through the worn
areas.Solution: Disassemble and inspect cylinder for wearing when doing
repairs.
-
-
Problem Intermittent stopping of pump stroke (Can cause resin to continue spraying without catalyst).
-
Possible Causes: Air lock in surge chamber. This can be caused by the pump
running, when the drum is empty or when moving a siphon hose
assembly from one drum to another. Both of these occurrences can allow air into the system.Solution: 1. Reduce pump pressure to zero, disconnect slave, slowly open
ball valve on filter assembly, allow resin and air to escape.
2. Slowly increase pump pressure until pump begins stroking,
after smooth flow of resin is achievd, close valve and reconnect
slave. -
Possible Causes: Air lock in surge chamber. This can be caused by the pump
running, when the drum is empty or when moving a siphon hose
assembly from one drum to another. Both of these occurrences can allow air into the system.Solution: Periodically check drums to be sure of adequate supply of
material. Use above measures after transferring siphon
assembly from one drum to another.
