MVP DESIGNS INNOVATIVE WINDING SYSTEM FOR DELTA ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS
Kent, WA - MVP Advanced Design Group Works Closely With Customer To Design Innovative Filament Winding System
Delta Environmental Products had a problem. It was taking too long to make a key component in their wastewater solutions division. This product is an innovative solution to the traditional gravity-fed sanitary sewer systems that is more ecologically sound. The problem was the facility tasked with making these parts couldn't produce enough of a key product part to meet the demand. This resulted in the inefficiency of making more parts than ordered and keeping an expensive inventory to insure they had the parts when necessary.
Delta put together a team to investigate a solution to this problem. After some intensive investigation of alternatives, they made the decision to contact Magnum Venus Plastech to see if they could come up with a solution.
Working closely with Delta, the MVP Advanced Design Group designed a specific vertical winding system that was exactly what they needed.
The primary problem they were having with previous production methods was the time it took to make each tank shell - one hour, which did not include moving the part the 300 feet between the production and assembly areas. The previous method also used a large amount of resin, which is generally a high cost item.
With the new automated Vertical Winding System from Magnum Venus Plastech, the resin and fiberglass are now applied in rings instead of swaths. This is a significantly faster and cleaner process requiring less drying. Production time to finish a tank went from 58 minutes down to 15 minutes. Delta now produces 30 tanks in one day where they were only able to complete 18 before the new system was installed.
Delta Environmental Products Operations Manager Greg Treadaway, who was intimately involved with every step of this project said, "This is almost science fiction." He continued, "You can take some raw materials and in 15 minutes pull it off the load as an almost finished product. It's impressive, and it's an improvement in several important areas."
Magnum Venus Plastech has a history of working closely with customers who have specialized applications in standard meter/mixing systems to the more advanced systems like the Vertical Winding System developed for Delta.
