MVP MEETS WITH SENATOR PATTY MURRAY

Kent, WA - Tom Hedger, President of Magnum Venus Plastech (MVP), Meets with Senator Patty Murray to Discuss Composites Industry

Kent, WA - In October of this year, MVP President Tom Hedger traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and two of her aides Jaime Shimek and Caroline Paulson to discuss current issues within the Composites Industry.

Over the course of the meeting they discussed the challenges that Composites products manufacturers have faced over the last year with the economic downturn, possible changes in EPA and MACT regulations with regard to styrene emissions and what role Composites can play going into the future.

With the growing emphasis in government on increasing the use of green technology, Senator Murray was very interested to hear how Composites manufacturers can make a difference.  Mr. Hedger, speaking specifically of Magnum Venus Plastech equipment, informed them of the MVP systems currently in use by manufacturers who create Composites products for wind energy, nuclear and clean coal.  MVP is also very involved in working with multiple companies on repairing existing infrastructure across the country, saving the need to replace bridges and roadways, and disintegrating concrete sewer pipes by repairing them using Composites systems and materials.

Mr. Hedger also discussed exciting new closed mold technologies currently in development and testing that will greatly enhance the ability of the Composites manufacturers to meet tightening MACT and EPA standards.

At the conclusion of their meeting, Mr. Hedger voiced his concerns that the needs of the Composites Industry be considered as new regulations are designed, as he knows that Composites have a very important role to play in the future of this country.

Mr. Hedger said, "I found the senator and her team showed a keen interest in the Composites Industry; the various solutions and products our industry provides play a vital part in our goal of achieving energy independence and repairing numerous portions of our infrastructure, from relining sewer pipe to bridge deck repair. Best of all composites are not prone to rust or rot"
