International LRTM Training

INTERNATIONAL LRTM TRAINING

This hand-on Light RTM course will focus on the precision and accuracy needed to produce Light RTM mold from preparation of the master pattern, through to the commissioning of the mold. The seminar wil feature and explain the Light RTM technology through theoretical sessions, hands-on tool-making techniques and mold injection demonstrations.

Below is a demonstration of the counter-mould building techniques taught in this course:

Animation designed by Laetita LeManer

The sessions will cover the following aspects of the Light RTM tool build:

  • Pattern construction
  • Injection and vacuum port location
  • First mold half construction including heating/temperature control options. Also, mold material choice, accuracy and rapid construction for additional mold laminate structure utilizing a low profile tooling system
  • Calibrating the product thickness - working successfully with calibration wax and a demonstration of solvent-based PVA systems for "clean" release
  • Flange calibration for all seals
  • Vacuum-lock techniques and application to ensure accuracy
  • Counter-mold half construction, with information n mold material choice that is appropriate for the needed flexibility of the counter-mold
  • Optimized design for mold set peripheral framing
  • Opening, cleaning, plishing and applying semi-permanent release systems to the completed mold
  • Installation of the mold seals, injection, and vacuum fittings
  • Review of the do's and don'ts on fiber loading, core, insert loading into the mold cavity

Expect the following results:

  • Practical sessions will show different Light RTM molds being loaded and injected
  • Doubling the output potential of your Light RTM tool set by the manufacture of further matching face tools
  • Information on some of the classic problems those new to the process experience (i.e. vacuum leaks, using too much injection pressure, when to switch off vacuum, damagint the light weight molds when de-molding, core absorption of resin, etc.).
